Tips and Tricks to get your customizations working the way you want. WB OB DX
This is just the weirdest thing.

It started about 2 weeks ago, I have a hot-key to stop Winamp and launch my screensaver when I go away from my PC. Winamp stops (so I know that KLP is getting the signal), but my screensaver does not run. I have to select a different Virtual Desktop, and then it will function correctly.

Could it be a combination of Virtual Desktop and KLP? Or is it possible that one of my applications might be affecting KLP's ability to launch my screensaver and by moving to a different VD where that application (I wouldn't have a clue which one) is NOT running so KLP is able to launch the screensaver without issue?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just upgraded my Virtual Desktop to version 2.09b(.009, and now my keyboard shortcut for launching my screen saver doesn't work at all.

I even removed the "Stop WinAmp" command. It doesn't matter what I do - even from a fresh reboot before I launch any programs.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Do I need to bug stardock support by email?

I have stoped using Virtual Desktops. It was having issues with the new Fences app, and I thought it out and decided that Fences is more useful to me.

However, this issue with KLP and my screen-saver is still happening. It is almost random. I never know when my screen-saver will fail to launch. I have to step away from my desk often and when I leave my PC unlocked, co-workers love to mess with it. I love the single-key to lock and stop winamp, but if it isn't reliable what good is it?

I have tried several different screen-savers and all of them have displayed this issue. It happens both when winamp is running and when it isn't. The other day I closed all my applications and the screen saver still didn't launch. Any suggestions?

I have narrowed down the issue. It has to do with the checkbox "On resume, password protect" and certain applications like WinVNC and Trillian. If the checkbox is unchecked then the screen-saver will aways work. If it is checked and both VNC and Trillian are not loaded/running then it will work. If either of them are running and the checkbox is checked, then it will NOT work most of the time.

It is also odd that sometimes if I close my VNC then the screen-saver will work, other times I can close EVERY open application and the screen-saver will still fail to launch. Logging out of Windows and back in will clear something and then the screen-saver will work normally. It is quite a PITA, but at least I have a better grasp on which applications cause the issue. I still don't know why or how to resolve it.

If anyone is just out there wanting to help a poor Einstein - I would be eternally greatful.
