Tips and Tricks to get your customizations working the way you want. WB OB DX
Hey all,

I just got a new PC at work running WinXP (the government is always one step behind), but I have a number of apps where skinning the scrollbars is problematic. The "Per Application - Feature Disabling" feature worked just fine on Win2000 (WB4), but there seems to be a problem with WB5 and the "Feature Disabling" feature. Am I just missing something, or is this a known issue?

Here is my System Info:

Microsoft Windows XP:
Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 94 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to Intel(R) Q965/Q963 Express Chipset Family

Wblind.dll 2007/03/13 10:50:20
Wbsrv.dll 2007/03/13 10:57:52
Wbconfig.exe 2007/03/13 10:16:17
Wbload.exe 2006/03/13 17:54:14
Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 16:37:07
Wbui.dll 2005/12/06 21:29:06
Tray.dll 2006/04/28 18:26:49

I could ignore the app, but I just need to turn off the scrollbars. Can someone please let me know if I'm going crazy or if the "Feature Disabling" is just not supported on WB5? Thanks!

Einy

The only one I'm sure works is "Total Exclusion"
I haven't had any luck with those under "Feature Disabling" either.

I usually don't fool with the Per-Application. When I do, I don't have much success.

Same here - it's either skin it or exclude it totally. None of the individual options such as Skin Titlebar Only work as you'd expect.

I know that this is a "stupid question" but if the feature exclusions no longer work, why are they still there? Is there some plan to get the feature exclusions back into the code for WindowBlinds? Like I say, I know that it used to work on Win2000.

Whatever, I'm sure that since Vista has all the attention now, we'll be lucky to get anything new for XP in the coming months. It is just the way things go.

Thanks anyway.

Just sent - crosses fingers hoping for a response.

I have just notified the lead developer of WindowBlinds about this issue.

Thanks to those that have reported and/or reproduced this problem.

Well - 1 week later and I got an email response.

Hello,

Thanks again for reporting this.

The lead developer of WindowBlinds has stated that this functionality had somehow become broken and has fixed this. When the next build is released, this feature should be working again as advertised.

Thank you,

Nice really - to know that not only will this be fixed, but I wasn't just imagining it. There really was a coding bug. I am looking forward to the next release ... any idea when THAT might be

I would love to see the skin this app with a particular skin werk...it does use the skin specified, but it uses the color scheme of the main wb running...which defeats the purpose.

I hear ya, but until the Windows GUI stops using a global color scheme, we're likely to be stuck with that. Either that or a way to skin everything is developed.

WOO - HOO !!!

The latest build of WB has fixed the per application feature disabling and now I can turn off the scroll-bars and the rest skins.

All is right with the world!

Thanks again .... Neil, I believe ... but I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time).

Great work Stardock folks.
